WHO WE ARE & WHAT WE DO...
The Rim Country
Literacy Program, Inc. is an educational non-profit,
volunteer organization. Our mission is to "change
lives through literacy" by providing free
educational instruction with an emphasis on reading
and writing, in an effort to empower adults and
their families by assisting them in acquiring the
literacy practices and skills they need in order to
function more effectively in their daily lives and
participate more fully in society.
RCLP has been
providing community adult educational services since 1994. Our program is
staffed by caring and concerned volunteers who have logged over 4500 hours in
tutoring and office assistance. Funding for these free literacy programs is
primarily provided by private and public donations, area service organizations
and RCLP fundraisers. For information on providing tax deductible donations,
please contact the individuals listed below.
Volunteer tutors are
trained in providing one-on-one instruction, class and/or group instructions in
Adult Basic Education (ABE), General Education Diplomas (GED), English as a
Second Language (ESL), and Family Literacy Program (FLP). This free service is
available to adults and families in Payson and surrounding rural areas within
Northern Gila County.
In addition to our
community involvement in the Annual Business Fair and the Main Street/APS
Electric Light Parade & Christmas Celebration events – RCLP also partners in the
"No Child Left Behind" program, and the Time Out Shelter & Center for Success
Educational Programs.
