SHARE YOUR READING-WRITING & MATH
SKILLS
Volunteer Tutors needed to assist others in learning & obtaining
ABE/Adult Basic Education, GED/General Education Diplomas and
ESL/English as a Second Language. Tutors must have basic literary
skills. (ESL tutors do not need to speak a foreign language) “Family
Literacy” requires potential interaction with children 2 to 4 years old
and/or parents.
Tutors will need to attend an RCLP workshop for training on how to teach
adults to improve their literacy skills in reading, writing and
mathematics.
As a certified tutor, you will be matched with an individual or family
whose schedule is compatible with your own. During these tutoring
sessions you will be teaching basic literacy skills via tutoring
materials that are specifically geared to interest and motivate 'your
student or students'--consequently giving these adults and their
families the opportunity to acquire skills that will improve their
effectiveness in their roles as members of their families, communities,
and workplaces.
RCLP offers continued training and support, and as a Volunteer Tutor you
will have an opportunity to interact and share ideas with other tutors.
In just three hours a week you can make a difference in someone else's
life...and your own!
Volunteers need to be over 18, possess basic literary skills, enjoy
working with others and helping them to reach their goals. Tutoring is
available on a 1:1 basis or in a group setting. Training tools &
materials are provided.
